Amgen and the Amgen Foundation

Amgen and the Amgen Foundation

Each year, Amgen commits significant financial support and product donations to help make a difference in people's lives. Amgen's corporate giving initiatives are very diverse: research grants and fellowships; medical education grants; donations of cash, product, and equipment; community involvement through corporate sponsorships; and cash donations and volunteerism by Amgen staff members. In addition, the Amgen Foundation* provides funding to support those affected by natural disasters, global disease outbreaks and humanitarian emergencies. To amplify funding efforts and increase available services, the Amgen Foundation operates a Global Disaster Relief Matching Gifts Program, allowing donations from Amgen staff to receive matched funding from the Amgen Foundation.

*The Amgen Foundation, Inc. is a separate legal entity entirely funded by Amgen.

Everyone Needs Science. Science Needs Everyone.

Amgen Foundation Programs in China
Amgen Scholars
The Amgen Scholars Program is a global initiative that provides undergraduate students with a strong interest in life science and biotechnology the opportunity to engage in hands-on research at some of the world’s leading universities and research institutions. This 8–10 week summer program immerses students in scientific research under the guidance of world-class faculty, with the goal of nurturing future scientific talent and inspiring innovation in the next generation of researchers. Financial support for students is a critical component of the program, which helps ensure that eligible students, regardless of income, can participate.
Amgen Biotech Experience
The Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) is an innovative science education program that brings real-world biotechnology into high school classrooms. By transforming industry-based lab protocols into accessible, modular experiments - with clear and engaging instruction - ABE enables students to explore science hands-on and understand its relevance to their everyday lives. The program provides teachers with professional development and education materials and loans research-grade equipment to high schools all at no cost. Worldwide, the program has reached almost a million students to date.
LabXchange
Funded by the Amgen Foundation and developed at Harvard University, LabXchange is a free, online platform for science learning that provides middle school, high school and university level teachers and students with access to personalized instruction, virtual lab experiences and networking opportunities across the global scientific community.
